Why I Am Doing THIS
Well, I have always wanted to write more. In grad school, I learned that the more you write, the better you get at it and the more you enjoy it. The problem, after grad school, was that, as a full-time (and more) teacher, I never had the TIME to write.
After pretty much deciding to retire when school let out last Spring (awful admin, a few severely out-of-control students who made it impossible for me to teach the awesome ones, etc.), I felt freedom for the first time in my life. I suddenly had TIME.
- Time to organize the house I moved into back in 2016 (everyone is allowed to have dreams).
- Time to plan and build things.
- Time to cook.
- Time to work out.
- Time to write.
Finding My Voice Again
Writing has become a true outlet for me. I am so isolated here, where I live, that I have very little contact with other people. And I’ve always been a talker. My mother used to say I came out of the womb “yacking my head off.” And, in my isolation, the thing I miss the most is talking out my thoughts with someone else. I guess this is the next best thing — talking out my thoughts in a blog!
I never imagined I’d be doing something like this, but here we are.
